Thor's Cave, Peak District

One of our first ever adventures was to Thor's Cave in the Peak District. It was only by chance that we were googling 'nice walks to do in the Peak District' and this came up. We parked in Wetton with the post code (DE6 2AF) where there was a small free car park with public toilets. There is a little notice board in the car park that also tells you the directions in order to get to the Cave. It was about a half an hour walk.

How to get there..

First we walked through the village and followed the signs to 'Thor's Cave', you come to a dirt track between two brick walls, follow that all the way to the bottom till you come to a fence. Once you have climbed the fence, walk left across the field and up the side of the hill. The path will become more obvious at this point. You will come to some stairs and Thor's Cave will be up there on your left.

As you can see from the photography my partner forgot his SD card for his camera so I had to use my handy photography skills on my phone. (The pictures will get better I promise) I think this was the first time I'd ever actually seen Callum genuinely annoyed. Carried his Camera the whole way there to realise he didn't have an SD card in it in order to take pictures! I love to remind him of this on our more recent adventures. Once we had seen Thor's Cave we decided to follow the stairs down and over the bridge across the little river. We had discarded the map by this point and decided to go through a gate and follow the path up and extremely steep hill, which my legs did not thank me for. At this point when we got to the top we decided to head back in the direction of the car park. If you're looking for a nice walk with some pretty views and a bit of excitement on the way (the excitement being the cave) this is the perfect little route to go on. Obviously if your feeling confident enough to go exploring like me and my partner did GO FOR IT! Just always remember where you parked and know where exactly on the map you are and what direction your heading in. We don't want anyone getting lost.

One of my favorite things to do in life is find somewhere beautiful and take in the view. Obviously you have to walk a fair bit before you find that breathtaking view most of the time. Now I am no expert, I only speak from experiences. I have been going on many adventures from hiking up Mount Snowdon in Wales, exploring the Moors of Devon and walking in the hills of the Peak District, alongside my life companion. I started this blog to share some of the adventures we go on through my partners marvelous photography and my not so marvelous Photography but hopefully inspiring words.
